A front wheel assembly for a folding bicycle comprises a wheel with a hub (15) and a wheel carrier carrying the wheel between two arms (19), the carrier being pivotably connectible with front forks of the bicycle to be movable between a use position with the wheel releasably fastened to the forks and a folded position with the wheel removed from the forks. The hub (15) has projections, in the form of stub axles (22a), engaged in recesses (24) in the arms thereby to firmly mount the wheel in the carrier. Removal of the wheel from the carrier after the carrier has been detached from the forks can be accomplished in simple manner by resiliently splaying the arms to disengage the stub axles from the recesses. The arms can be constructed to be resiliently bendable and/or connected together in the region of the wheel circumference by a connector, for example a mudguard, which is resiliently bendable. |
