The hydrogenation step in the anthrachinone process for producing hydrogen peroxide in a hydrogenation reactor performed on a solid bed catalyst from particle-shaped catalyst is known in prior art. According to the invention, the residence time of a catalyst is increased by transporting working solution containing reaction support material and transporting a hydrogen-containing gas phase as a mixture from the downside to the upside through a hydrogenati on reactor. The empty pipe velocity of the working solution is 0.05 to 100 m/h, in particular 10 to 50 m/h.
