The traveling portal crane has electric motors (17) in some of the wheel hubs (18). The crane has a lower frame (20) with four swiveling wheel forks mounted in line enabling steering. The inner two wheels have hubs containing a planetary reduction gear, an electric motor and a wet brake. Each wheel has a pneumatic tire. There are oil and cooling fluid circuits in the motored wheels and support forks.
