A deterioration protection relay system for electric power equipment is provided to operate safely and reliably electric power equipment and an electric power system by performing a proper operation including a tripping operation for preventing previously a spreading effect of an accident. A deterioration protection relay system for electric power equipment receives continuously temperature signals detected from a plurality of temperature sensors installed at important positions of electric power equipment and compares the received temperature signals with a set value. The deterioration protection relay system checks a thermal abnormal state of the electric power equipment by outputting temporarily an operational contact according to a temperature/time change rate characteristic graph in a normal range of temperature change. The deterioration protection relay system protects circuits and the electric power equipment by opening and separating rapidly a defective part in a state of deterioration by outputting sequentially the operational contact in an abnormal range of temperature change.
