An apparatus and method for preventing the dry-out of the fuel cell vehicle are provided to improve the performance and the lifetime of the fuel cell stack by maintaining the vacuum pressure within the fuel cell stack with the optimal level. An apparatus for preventing the dry-out of the fuel cell vehicle comprises a throttle valve(22), a spring, an electromagnet(28), a controller(30) and a vacuum pressure measure (32). The throttle valve is installed by the rotation axis (24) in an air suction duct(12) and an air exhaust duct(14). The air suction duct supplies the air to a fuel cell stack(10). The air exhaust duct ejects the air from the fuel cell stack. The spring is mounted on the rotation axis. The spring provides the elastic restoring force for maintaining the open state of the throttle valve. The electromagnet is adhered to the surface of the air suction duct and the air exhaust duct. The controller applies the power at the electromagnet. The vacuum pressure measure measures the vacuum pressure within stack. The vacuum pressure measure transmits the vacuum pressure measurement signal to the controller. |
