An image forming method and an apparatus thereof are provided to pickup a sheet considering a rotation cycle of an intermediate transfer belt, thereby preventing error and improving user's convenience. An image forming apparatus senses whether a sheet is picked up or not(220). Print data are transferred to an intermediate transfer belt(225). When the sheet is not picked up, the image forming apparatus picks up the sheet again in consideration of a rotation cycle of the intermediate transfer belt(250).
