The method involves controlling an ignition device for causing combustion of air and fuel mixture, and controlling an air injection device for each opening (OE) of an exhaust valve associated to an exhaust phase of a combustion chamber. The air injection device is controlled for causing a pressurized air injection (IA) in the chamber through an exhaust valve seat such that a single compression of the air and fuel mixture causes the combustion of the air and fuel mixture. The air injection device is arranged in an exhaust conduit nearer to the exhaust valve.
