PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recognition device or the like suitable for robust pattern recognition of image data, etc. SOLUTION: The recognition device 1 which recognizes a pattern of data includes: a histogram function creation part 5 which creates a histogram approximation formula (histogram function) which approximates a histogram of data with high accuracy; and a classification part 9 which classifies the data into at least one of a plurality of classes using the histogram function.
