PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device furnished with a control device to reset assist torque without giving feeling of anxiety due to fluctuation of steering torque in resetting to a normal state after an abnormal state requiring limitation of a motor electric current occurs in a control element of a steering system. SOLUTION: It is prescribed that steering sensation is experienced at an electric current limiting value La at the point when a gradual decreasing processing of the current electric current limiting value La is performed until the current electric current limiting value La and an electric current limiting target value LT become the same, the electric current limiting target value LT is updated to a direction (La<LT) to weaken electric current limitation at the points S1 to S2 and a condition (¾I1¾≥La) is established and a prescribed time ta elapses. The assist torque is reset by increasing the electric current limiting value La at the point by adding an electric current limiting value gradual increase valueΔLu to it and gradually increasing a motor current by repeating this process when a condition (¾I1¾<Lb) is established and the prescribed time tb elapses.
