PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing method capable of performing a fixation appropriately into a toner image having satisfactory gloss, and to provide an image forming apparatus capable of fixing the toner image having satisfactory gloss. SOLUTION: If a relation with an area A between the straight lines 1 and 2 is satisfied, a satisfactory toner image is formed. The line 1 approximates toη=2430.8ρP+46997. The line 2 approximates toη=409.2ρP-23092. Accordingly, the area A of the toner viscosity for forming a satisfactory toner image is (409.2ρP-23092)≥η≥(2430.8ρP+46997). As is clear from the description above, toner the viscosity of which satisfies the above formula makes it possible to form a toner image with satisfactory gloss and texture by using the fixing device that has the hardnessρand pressure P measured in advance.
