PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release unit in an apparatus for arraying microbeads, by which release unit microbeads are surely released at a high speed so that the size of a chip in the horizontal direction can be reduced and to provide a method for setting the release unit. SOLUTION: The release unit in the apparatus for arraying microbeads is provided with: a bent minute passage 6 communicated with a narrowed area 3 of the release unit in the apparatus for arraying microbeads; a storage part (a chamber) 4 for a liquid 5, which storage part is arranged through the bent minute passage 6 and has an expanded shape; microbeads 10 to be captured in the narrowed area 3; a light receiving part 7 which is formed in the storage part 4 and irradiated with a laser beam 8; and a laser beam irradiation unit for irradiating the light receiving part 7 with the laser beam 8. Bubbles 9 of the liquid 5 in the storage part 4 are generated by irradiating the light receiving part 7 with the laser beam 8 to release the microbeads 10 captured in the narrowed area 3 from the narrowed area 3.
