The method involves collecting, compressing and transporting frozen water into a storage (10) that stores and soaks the frozen water for melting by using a liquid melting water (25). The water (25) is absorbed as an absorbing water (13), such that a portion of the absorbing water is fed as a cooling water (45) to a cooling water circuit of a cooling system (5). The portion of the water (13) used as the cooling water is separated from the melting water circuit and mixed with return water of the cooling circuit, before used in the cooling water circuit. An independent claim is also included for a device for producing cooling energy, comprising a chamber.
