PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat type battery wherein the wound condition of an electrode body is held with no looseness and there is no need to form a slit in the end of a positive electrode or in the end of a negative electrode for an anti-loosening tape to be arranged on the electrode body. SOLUTION: The flat type battery comprises the electrode body 1 wound in a flat shape with a band-like separator 15 laid between the band-like positive electrode 12 and the band-like negative electrode 13, and a flat battery can 2 storing the electrode body 1. The battery can 2 consists of a positive electrode can 6 for connecting an end 12a on the outermost periphery side of the positive electrode 12 in the wound condition to the inner face, a negative electrode can 10 for connecting an end 13a on the outermost periphery side of the negative electrode 13 in the wound condition to the inner face, and a gasket 11 arranged between the peripheral edges of the positive electrode can 6 and the negative electrode can 10 for sealing between the positive electrode can 6 and the negative electrode can 10. In attitude along a direction perpendicular to the winding direction of the electrode body 1, the wound-shape holding winding tape 22 is mounted between a pair of flat faces 1a, 1b formed on the outermost periphery of the electrode body 1.
