PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To notify an external apparatus to be a data transmission destination of a cause which generates or may generate abnormality in data acquisition. SOLUTION: An adaptor 102 acquires data from a digital camera 101 according to a request from a media player 104 and transmits the acquired data to the media player 104. Further, the adaptor 102 detects a prescribed state in at least one of a state of a digital camera 101 and a connection state of the digital camera 101, and when data are requested from the media player 104, notifies the media player 104 of the detected prescribed state instead of the requested data.
