PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner supply method and a toner supply device capable of securing a period of new preparation of spare replacement toner without interrupting the recording of a toner image on a recording material, and optionally adjusting a display time in accordance with an economical operating environment of equipment. SOLUTION: The toner supply device includes: a toner concentration detecting means for detecting the toner concentration in a developing device; a main body control part 34 that can cumulatively store the number of driving times for toner supply by the driving means or the supply period, and also, that compares a known toner amount stored in a toner storage part with a toner consumption amount calculated from toner supply data wherein the number of driving times for toner supply by the driving means 32 or the supply period is cumulatively stored; a display part 35 for displaying the information to urge the preparation of the spare replacement toner before the toner is fully consumed, that is, earlier than a time for preparing the spare replacement toner; and a display time instruction part 36 capable of individually adjusting the information time in accordance with the user's condition.
