PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure of an intermediate transfer belt that does not peel easily even if it is bent in the inside and outside directions, and an image forming apparatus having such an intermediate transfer belt. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus comprises one or more rollers for outward curve that travel along one or two or more photosensitive bodies and curve a primary transfer belt of a closed loop shape to which a toner image formed on the surface of the photosensitive body is transferred toward the outside of the closed loop, and one or more rollers for inward curve for curving the secondary transfer belt toward the inside of the closed loop. The primary transfer belt comprises a resin-made substrate layer formed inside the closed loop, and an elastic layer formed outside the substrate layer.
