PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect multiple fault occurrences and continue communication without increasing the number of passing repeaters of a supervisory frame even when faults occur respectively in a shared link portion and a non-shared link portion on a ring which monitors a shared link in a multi-ring structure. SOLUTION: In a communication network containing a repeater, a monitoring device and a shared link terminal device, when a link fault is detected, each device sends a fault detection frame into a ring upon fault occurrence, and delivers link fault information to shared link terminal devices 1102, 1108. The shared link terminal devices 1102, 1108 produce a link fault information management database, and determine the presence of multiple faults.
