PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic sensor for a magnetic encoder higher in resolution and smaller in size. SOLUTION: This magnetic sensor is provided with a plurality of magnetic detector units 232 mounted on an electronic element 231, each of which is composed by interposing a magnetoresistive element between a pair of soft magnetic substances. The detector units 232 are provided with detector units 232a for a phase A arranged side by side along the direction of passage of a magnetic field, and detector units 232b for a phase B arranged side by side along the direction of passage of the magnetic field. The detector units 232a and the detector units 232b are arranged by turns being separated by a distance at which adjoining detector units do not magnetically interfere. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
