PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reliably remove slag generated in a flame-scarfed part during the scarfing work of a cast slab at low cost. SOLUTION: A scarfing device 10 removes slag S generated in a flame-scarfed part 1b in the flame-scarfing work of a cast slab 1. The scarfing device 10 has nozzles for jetting a fluid mixture of air and water toward the flame-scarfed part 1b. In this condition, the nozzles 14 are preferably provided on right and left sides of the flame-scarfed part 1b, and the nozzles 14 are preferably formed at a rear end of a conduit 13 extending backwardly along the flame-scarfing direction of the cast piece 1. Further, the nozzles 14 are preferably bent inwardly by the predetermined angleαwith respect to the flame-scarfing direction of the cast slab 1; in particular, the predetermined angleαis preferably≥35°and≤45°. Still further, the nozzles 14 are preferably bent downwardly by the predetermined angleθwith respect to the surface of the cast slab 1; in particular, the predetermined angleθis preferably≥10°and≤20°.
