Heat exchanger for gas, particularly for the exhaust gases of an engine, comprising a plurality of parallel passages (2) positioned inside a casing (3) and through which the gases to be cooled by exchange of heat with a coolant fluid flow. It is characterized in that the casing (3) comprises a series of protrusions (8) stamped on its surface and facing towards the inside thereof, so that the said protrusions (8) lie a predetermined distance away from the collection of passages (2), thus ensuring controlled expansion of the passages (2) before the pressure increases. The fatigue strength and endurance of the heat exchanger are both considerably improved without increasing the cost of production.
