摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a response picture corresponding to the operation of a push button by a player to be combined with a performance effect while evading the obstruction of the performance effect by means of a display using moving pictures in a game machine. SOLUTION: In a character ROM 386 for display to the LCD 16 of the game machine, respective frame pictures constituting the moving pictures are stored. When receiving a display command corresponding to a game state, by the instruction of a CPU 381, a VDP 385 successively reads the frame pictures and generates display data. In the meantime, when the push button provided on the game machine is operated, the CPU 381 combines and displays the response picture in the case of determining that the response picture can be displayed on the basis of the frame picture displayed on the LCD 16. In such a manner, by making it possible to specify the frame picture at the point of time at which the push button is operated, the response picture is displayed without obstructing the intended performance effect in the moving pictures.
