<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral sealing apparatus capable of obtaining good sealing results even when high-speed processing is required. <P>SOLUTION: The lateral sealing apparatus conveys a cylindrical film 10 storing an article 40 in a predetermined direction, pinches the cylindrical film 10 by a pair of sealants 24 and 24 arranged by opposing up and down by pinching the conveying path for the cylindrical film 10, performs lateral sealing while moving to the downstream side in the conveying direction of the cylindrical film 10, and conveys a sealed bagged package 42 by a discharging conveyor 22.
