PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hemoprotein separation method which enables the selective separation of hemoprotein from a hemoprotein-containing solution. SOLUTION: In the hemoprotein separation method constituted so as to separate hemoprotein from the hemoprotein-containing solution, the hemoprotein-containing solution is brought into contact with a hemoprotein adsorbent 3 which is constituted of apatite mainly represented by the compositional formula (I): (Ca<SB>1-a</SB>M<SB>a</SB>)<SB>10</SB>(PO<SB>4</SB>)<SB>6</SB>[(OH)<SB>1-b</SB>X<SB>b</SB>]<SB>2</SB>at least in the vicinity of its surface to preferentially adsorb hemoprotein to separate it from the solution. In the compositional formula (I), M is at least one of lanthanoide type metal elements with an atomic weight of 173 or above; X is at least one of halogen atoms; a is 0<a≤1 and b is 0≤b≤1.
