PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auxiliary unit for folding paper capable of folding the paper according to the way of folding described in Japanese Industrial Standard and requiring no repositioning if positioning is once performed. SOLUTION: The auxiliary unit 1 for folding the paper is provided with a base member 2; an upper folding plate 3; and a first folded/bent plate 4. The base member 2 has a positioning means 13 for arranging the paper at a predetermined paper arrangement area 16. Further, the upper folding plate 3 has an upper folding side 19, and the first folding plate 4 has a first folding side 22. Further, when the respective plates 3, 4 are superposed on the base surface 12, the upper folding side 19 forms a right angle relative to the first folding side 22. A dimension from a lower end of the paper arrangement area 16 to the upper folding side 19 is made equal to a predetermined vertical dimension, and a dimension from a left end of the paper arrangement area 16 to the first folding side 22 is made equal to a predetermined lateral dimension.
