PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separating apparatus in which the amount of dirt or the like passing through through-holes in a shroud is reduced. SOLUTION: A cyclone separating apparatus 100 has a chamber 112 for separating dirt and dust from an air flow, an inlet 110 to the chamber and a shroud 200. The shroud assembly has a wall 202 including an inner surface 206, an outer surface 204 and a multiplicity of through-holes 208 forming an outlet of the chamber. Each through-holes has an axis, Z<SB>1</SB>-Z<SB>1</SB>, Z<SB>2</SB>-Z<SB>2</SB>, Z<SB>3</SB>-Z<SB>3</SB>, or Z<SB>4</SB>-Z<SB>4</SB>. The inner surface of the wall has a serrated profile having a plurality of serrations 210 arranged along at least a part of the circumference of the wall.
