PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the drying of boiled rice in the upper layer in a pot due to the temperature rise of a lid heating plate and to prevent the overheat of the lid heating plate when a steam generation part provided in the lid heating plate has no water in a rice cooker improving the taste of the boiled rice using the steam of a boiling point of water or more. SOLUTION: The pot 2 is heated by a pot heating means 3 and the lid heating plate 10 disposed in a lid for covering the pot 2 is heated by a lid heating means 13. The lid heating plate 10 has a steam generation part for storing water and generating steam, a water presence/absence detection means 21 detects the presence/absence of water stored in the lid heating plate 10 according to the detected temperature of the lid temperature detection means 15, and the pot heating means 3 and the lid heating means 13 is controlled by a microcomputer 23. The microcomputer 23 has a waterless rice-cooking sequence corresponding to a detection result of no water, and a water rice-cooking sequence corresponding to the detection result having water, and is so configured to set the power consumption of the waterless rice-cooking sequence lower than the power consumption of the water rice-cooking sequence.
