Disclosed is a door handle device capable of operating the door opening/closing mechanism of a vehicle. The door handle device comprises a support member (21), a door handle (10), a lock detecting electrode (31), and an electrostatic capacity sensor (41). The door handle (10) includes a first end portion (12b), a second end portion (12d), a turning portion (12a), and an operation portion (12c). The electrostatic capacity sensor (41) detects the issuance of a door locking command on the basis of the change in an electrostatic capacity between an outer panel (20) and a lock detecting electrode (31). The door handle (10) includes a first handle case (11), and a second handle case (12) covering the first handle case (11). The lock detecting electrode (31) closely confronts the inner side face of at least one of the upper wall (12e) and the lower wall (12f) of the second handle case (12). The lock detecting electrode (31) is enclosed by an elastic member (50) having a water-proof property.
