ORGANIC EL DISPLAY DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING THE SAME

In an organic EL display device using a passive driving method, drive current necessary for obtaining desired illumination intensity with a desired pixel structure is lowered to prevent an organic EL element from being deteriorated and allow the organic EL element to have a long life, and the aperture ratio of each pixel is increased to improve display performance. The organic EL display device comprises a pixel electrode (3) arranged in the shape of a dot matrix in a row direction and a column direction, a data line (2) connecting every other or every few other pixel electrodes (3) arranged in each column direction to each other, and a scanning electrode (4) formed in line in the column direction for the plurality of pixel electrodes connected to different data lines in each column. The pixel electrode (3) is constituted of a transparent electrode pattern-formed on a substrate. The data line (2) is constituted of a transparent electrode formed only on a portion connecting the pixel electrodes (3) to each other. An auxiliary electrode is laminated at least on the upper portion thereof.
