#CMT# #/CMT# Tubing (2) for water under pressure and flexible vacuum tubing (4) are introduced into the drain line (1). The line is intentionally-blocked beyond the ends of the tubing introduced. The blockage is a pneumatically-expanded sac (6). Water is forced through the pressure line, and discharged under pressure through a spray head, against the internal wall of the line. The vacuum tubing (4) is used to extract the water, which carries the deposits removed. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim IS INCLUDED FOR corresponding apparatus #CMT#USE : #/CMT# To remove dental amalgam deposits from a drain line. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# Whilst amalgam separators are mandatory in drain lines, to keep mercury out of the sewerage system, these are generally central in the dental practice, with lines laid to them. About 5% of the amalgam can be carried-over from the separator, into the sewerage system. Any relevant line can be blocked by amalgam. Amalgam removed from blockages by e.g. a jetting contractor, can reach the sewerage system. The new cleaning equipment extracts all amalgam removed, and blocks the line downstream, hence preventing contamination of the sewerage system. All amalgam extracted, is recovered in a relatively-clean state. #CMT#DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS : #/CMT# The drawing shows a schematic cross section of the jetting and extraction apparatus. 1 : drain line 2 : tubing for water under pressure 3 : compressed air tubing 4 : flexible vacuum tubing 6 : pneumatically-expanded sac. |
