With respect to hologram recording apparatus (A), the pixel regions in spatial light modulator (5) are composed of a recording modulation region for modulating of recording light and a light intensity regulation region capable of regulating, in accordance with the number of pixels guiding recording light to hologram recording medium (B) in the recording modulation region, the intensity of light outgoing to the hologram recording medium (B). Accordingly, the recording light guided to the hologram recording medium (B) can be controlled so as to fall within a given range.
