<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject detecting device which is easy to use and has higher precision or to provide a video signal processor capable of reducing the scale or cost of the device. <P>SOLUTION: The video signal processor includes input means for inputting a video signal comprising a luminance signal and a color signal in N:1 (N: a natural number) proportion, video reducing means for reducing the video signal from the input means at least horizontally, and subject detecting means for inputting the reduced video signal from the video contraction means and detecting a subject, wherein the video reducing means reduces the luminance signal horizontally to 1/(N×M) (M: a natural number) and the color signal to 1/M to equalize the sizes of the luminance signal and color signal having been reduced, thereby facilitating processing of the subject detecting means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
