<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide low-nickel austenitic stainless steel which has excellent mechanical properties and corrosion resistance even when nickel content is decreased and can remarkably reduce production costs and also to provide a method for producing the low-nickel austenitic stainless steel. <P>SOLUTION: The low-nickel austenitic stainless steel has a composition consisting (by weight) of, based on the total quantity,≤0.08% carbon (C), 4.0 to 5.0% manganese (Mn), 0.7 to 1.0% silicon (Si), 3.5 to 4.5% nickel (Ni), 16.0 to 18.0% chromium (Cr), 3.0 to 3.50% copper (Cu),≤0.045% sulfur (S),≤0.030% phosphorus (P),≤0.2% impurities and the balance iron (Fe). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
