PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the performance of a camera by providing a wider variable range of apertures, focal lengths, focal positions, and so on than a range used for normal photographing (performance guarantee range), and using a region out of the performance guarantee range according to photographing conditions and special uses. SOLUTION: A camera (90) of the present invention includes photographing lenses (91, 92), photographing means (28) for converting an optical image of a subject incident to an electric signal through the photographing lenses (91, 92), contour enhancing means (42) for making a correction for enhancing an edge component of a video signal obtained through the photographing image (28), and control means (32) for controlling the contour enhancing means by changing a control amount for determining a degree of enhancement of the contour enhancing means (42) according to at least one condition of an aperture during shooting, the focal positions of the photographing lenses (91, 92), and the focal lengths of the photographing lenses (91, 92).
