PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon commutator in which a bonding state between a riser and a segment is excellent. SOLUTION: In a commutator 1 in which a riser metal 5 configuring the commutator is bonded to a segment 3 using solder, a segment bonding portion equivalent portion 8a formed in a ring of a metal plate 8 used as a riser metal 5 is soldered to one cylindrical end surface 7a of a cylindrical carbon substrate 7 in a step prior to molding of a boss 2. A through hole 8e is formed on the segment bonding portion equivalent portion 8a so that bubbles generated in soldering to the carbon substrate 7 can be evacuated to the outside through the through hole 8e.
