PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable detection of sectional defects, such as corrosion or rust or a physically-caused abrasion which occurs inside a drum, using a simple structure and by sure and quick inspection, and to enable determination of the location of the occurrence thereof. SOLUTION: This equipment for inspecting drum detects sectional defects being produced inside the drum 1 from the outside. The equipment has an ultrasonic inspection unit which conducts inspection for detecting spots of reduced thickness occurring inside the drum 1 and for estimating the extent thereof, by ultrasonic transverse waves. The ultrasonic inspection unit has a plurality of ultrasonic probes 2a, which are attached to the circumferential outer edge part 11a of a top board of the drum 1, or the circumferential outer edge part 12a of a bottom board thereof and generate an ultrasonic wave for inspecting the side board 10 of the drum 1.
