PEDESTRIAN PROTECTION DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pedestrian protection device which properly protects a pedestrian when the pedestrian falls down over the front body side of a vehicle by interference between the vehicle and the pedestrian.

SOLUTION: A pedestrian protection device is employed to a vehicle 11 which is constituted in such a manner that a front body 12 has a front fender 15 on each side in the vehicle width direction and upper ends 15A of each front fender 15 have a hood panel 18 between. The pedestrian protection device is mounted to each front fender 15 and comprises: a movable mechanism 20 which moves in a manner to keep at least the upper end 15A of the front fender 15 away from the hood panel 18; and an airbag system which constrains the pedestrian between the front fender 15 moved by the movable mechanism 20 and the hood panel 18, when interference occurs between the vehicle 11 and the pedestrian.
