<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the decreasing operation efficiency of electronic equipment and reduce its maintenance cost, by detecting the deterioration of an electrolytic capacitor for smoothing the DC power output of the electronic equipment and automatically connecting an additional electrolytic capacitor for spare smoothing. <P>SOLUTION: The electronic equipment, which uses DC power for its power, is equipped with the smoothing capacitor, which is connected to the output of the DC power source for the purpose of removal of ripples, a ripple voltage comparator, which is connected with the output circuit of the DC power source and detects definite or higher ripple voltage, a number-of-times-of-ripple-detection counter, which counts the definite or larger number of times of ripple detection, a connecting switch for electrolytic capacitor for spare smoothing, which switches on the connection of the electrolytic capacitor for spare smoothing, and a rush current protector, which prevents the rush current at connection of the electrolytic capacitor for spare smoothing.
