<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact diaphragm pump which reduces the volume of a pump chamber and enhances the self-priming capability of a diaphragm pump by providing a thin check valve structure not utilizing an umbrella. <P>SOLUTION: In the diaphragm pump, a check valve at each of intake and discharge sides of a diaphragm pump is composed of: a single opening/closing leaf spring in which an intake valve at one end extends on the opening end of an intake side flow path to normally block the intake side opening end, and the discharge valve at the other end extends on the opening end of a discharge side flow path not to block the discharge side opening end; and a fixing hole member which has a discharge flow path hole situated at an discharge side opening end and overlapped on the discharge valve at the other end of the opening/closing leaf spring, and normally closes the discharge flow path hole by the discharge valve at the other end. When the pump chamber volume is increased, a one-end intake valve of the opening/closing plate spring is opened.
