SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR NAVIGATION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform guidance by displaying recommended routes from a starting location to a destination on a map in an easy-to-understand manner for users weak in reading maps and having a poor sense of direction. SOLUTION: A navigation system provided with a display function for performing guidance on a recommended route from a starting location to a destination is provided with both: a bird's-eye view data generating part 4 for detecting the direction from the starting location to the destination, fixing the destination at a prescribed location along the direction, and generating a bird's-eye view data representing the recommended route from the starting location to the destination in a manner looking down from above the starting location toward the destination; and a display part 9 for positioning the starting location in the front and the destination on the back side of the screen and displaying a bird's-view map on the screen on the basis of the bird's-eye view data. By fixing the destination at the prescribed location along the direction and displaying the bird's-eye view map on the screen of the display part 9, it is possible to display the map in an easy-to-understand manner for users.
