PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of protecting a projection lens and an operation member from dust and impact. SOLUTION: In the projection type video display device, the operation member 4 that is turnably operated for adjusting zoom and focus of the projection lens 2 is arranged near the projection lens 2, a slide cover 7 freely slidably covering the projection lens 2 and the operation member 4 is slidably engaged with a slide holder 9, and also forming a holding mechanism with the slide holder 9, whereby it is nearly integrated with the slide holder 9, and the slide cover 7 is supported inside a body case 1 to freely slide between the body case 1 and the slide holder 9 attached to the body case 1, in the same direction as the turning direction of the operation member 4, and the slide cover 7 is held by the holding mechanism in such a state that it covers the projection lens 2 and the operation member 4.
