PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear actuator which can enhance the reliability and can enhance the performance easily. SOLUTION: The linear actuator comprises a stator 12, a mover 13 provided reciprocally for the stator, first pair of permanent magnets 14 and 15 facing the mover while adjoining mutually in the reciprocating direction and being provided on the stator under such a state as the magnetic poles are arranged perpendicularly to the reciprocating direction while reversing the mutual arrangement of the magnetic poles, second pair of permanent magnets 16 and 17 facing the mover while adjoining mutually in the reciprocating direction with the position being matched to that of the first pair of permanent magnets in the reciprocating direction and provided on the stator under such a state as the magnetic poles are arranged perpendicularly to the reciprocating direction while reversing the mutual arrangement of the magnetic poles, and a coil provided in the stator 12 wherein the first pair of permanent magnets and the second pair of permanent magnets reverse the magnetic poles facing the mover between the permanent magnets having positions matching in the reciprocating direction.
