PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary electric machine in which a cooling object including permanent magnets equipped on a stator can be cooled with a coolant and the coolant to be sprayed on an coil end can be reduced. SOLUTION: The rotary electric machine includes a rotatably installed shaft 58; a rotor 10 including housing holes 24A capable of housing permanent magnets 31 and the permanent magnets 31 housed in the housing holes 24A, and fixed to the shaft 58; a stator facing the rotor 10 and having coils; end plates 29 provided at axial ends of the rotor 10; coolant paths 43 formed in the end plates 29 and enabling a coolant to circulate via axial ends of the permanent magnets 31; and discharge openings 44 located from the inner diameter direction ends P1 of the permanent magnets 31 to the outer circumferential side of the rotor 10, located on the inside of the diameter direction of the rotor 10 for a cooling target portion R including the permanent magnet 31, communicating with the coolant paths 43 and capable of discharging the coolant.
