PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor which is effectively reduced in size, and a coil winding method of the electric motor. SOLUTION: This electric motor 2 has six poles, nine slots and eighteen segments. Each tooth 12 has a first coil 91 which is electrically connected between the adjacent segments 15, and wound with a winding 14 in a forward direction, and a second coil 92 which is electrically connected between the other adjacent segments, and wound with the winding 14 in a reverse direction. The segment 15 connected with the first coil 91 and the segment 15 connected with the second coil 92 correspond to the segments 15 with which a pair of brushes 21, 21 slidably contact, respectively.
