PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication protocol switching method for reducing a memory amount of sub-equipment which communicates with main equipment having a plurality of communication protocols. SOLUTION: When a communication error has occurred in main equipment 1 with a plurality of communication protocols and sub-equipment 2 with one communication protocol of the main equipment 1, the main equipment 1 increments the number of communication errors by one and clears a communication error. When the number of communication errors reaches a setting number, the main equipment 1 switches the protocol to another communication protocol, and clears the number of communication errors and communicates with the sub-equipment 2.
