PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a television receiver capable of not being viewed certainly during a viewing limited time established by a user. SOLUTION: A television receiver 1 comprises a display portion for displaying video images, a power supply portion for driving the display portion, and a CPU for controlling the whole receiver. If viewing limitation is established at a viewing condition setup portion (S1), the CPU displays a password re-input screen (S3) when the established time is past (S2). When a password re-inputted by a user is correct (S4), usage of the receiver is permitted (S5). When the re-inputted password is wrong (NO at S4), the power supply portion is turned off automatically (S8). In addition, if the user selects viewing limitation set up processing (S6) after the permission (S5) of usage of the receiver, viewing limitation set up processing is performed (S7). According to reconfirmation of this password, the viewing limitation cannot be canceled by anyone other than the user.
