PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reservoir cleaning method for carrying out cleaning of a reservoir with good efficiency without damaging the sanitation of the reservoir, and to provide a reservoir cleaning device. SOLUTION: According to the reservoir 1 cleaning method, after draining the reservoir 1 arranged in a building, cleaning work of an internal wall 1B of the reservoir 1 with a cleaning tool (step S3), and disinfection work of spreading a chemical onto the internal wall 1B and leaving the chemical over a predetermined standing time (step S4) are repeatedly carried out at least twice. Then, during the predetermined standing time of the disinfection work, temporary water feeding work of feeding water in a vinyl bag 14 arranged in the reservoir 1 (step S7), washing work of washing the internal wall 1B of the reservoir 1 with water after the lapse of the predetermined standing time (step S10), and water transferring work of feeding the water in the vinyl bag 14 into the reservoir 1 (step S14) are carried out.
