PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a rope slip detector capable of accurately detecting rope slip according to the moving amount of a car. SOLUTION: The rope slip detector of the elevator comprises a load judging portion 27 judging that the inside of a car 16 is under no-load according to a load detecting signal and generating a no-load signal, a traveling control portion 29 which is a first controlling means for reciprocating the car 16 between predetermined floors by the non-load signal, an ascending integrator 33 obtaining a first integrated value by integrating a position detecting signal when the car 16 travels in an ascending direction in the reciprocating travel, a descending integrator 34 obtaining a second integrated value by integrating a position detecting signal when the car 16 travels in a descending direction in the reciprocating travel, a subtracter 35 obtaining a difference between the first integrated value and the second integrated value, and an abnormality judging portion 37 judging as abnormal when the difference exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
