The method involves providing a crankshaft (2) in a starting position that is used for restart, after switching-off of an internal-combustion engine (1) by a position regulator (9). A positioning device is implemented as a clutch (3) and an electric motor (10), where the positioning device positions the crankshaft to a desired starting position after switching-off of the internal-combustion engine. The crankshaft remains in the desired starting position to restart. An independent claim is also included for a device for operating an internal-combustion engine.
