<p>A moving image data distribution system for distributing reproduction content data hierarchically organized so that high quality data can be formed by combining upper hierarchy data with lower hierarchy data. The moving image data distribution system comprises a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter has a transmitted data storage section for storing the reproduction content data, an upper hierarchy first data length determining means for determining the data-length of upper hierarchy first data on the basis of the reproduction delay time between the time when the receiver has received only the upper hierarchy data and the time when it performs the reproduction of the reproduction content data, an upper hierarchy first data transmitting means for reading the upper hierarchy first data determined on the basis of the data-length of the upper hierarchy first data from the storage section and transmitting it to the receiver, and an upper hierarchy subsequent data transmitting means for reading upper hierarchy subsequent data subsequent to the upper hierarchy first data from the storage section and transmitting it to the receiver. The receiver has a lower hierarchy data storage section for storing the lower hierarchy data, a hierarchy data combining means for combining the lower hierarchy data with the upper hierarchy first data or the upper hierarchy subsequent data, and a reproduction means for reproducing the high quality data combined and generated by the hierarchy data combining means.</p> |
