PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picking facility capable of carrying another article holder, when the article holder in an empty state is generated, without being influenced thereby. SOLUTION: The picking facility comprises an article holder installing section positioning the article holder for picking, and a picking work section with an article holding element processing function equipped with a step stacking storage device moving the article holder existing in the empty state in the article holder installing section from the article holder installing section to be stored in a step stacking state. A controlling means H controls the operation of an article carrier 3a so as to carry the article holder in a holding state from a storage section for storing a spare article to the article holder installing section or a conveyer carrying section CV carrying the article holder toward the article holder installing section.
